2023 Jianxing Honors College's Summer School Academic Journey Achieves Great Success

In the summer of 2023, Jianxing Honors College organized an exciting international summer school program for its honor students. The renowned Oxford and Cambridge University summer school projects, known for their world-class teaching resources, attracted active participation from numerous students. After rigorous selection, 12 Jianxing honor students embarked on a journey of knowledge and dreams.

During the summer school, Lady Margaret Hall at Oxford University and Girton College at Cambridge University offered a diverse range of courses covering various fields. From English courses, anthropology research, environmental studies, discussions on global climate change, economic development, business knowledge, to 3D technology, science, psychology, and cutting-edge artificial intelligence and technology research, all these courses were personally taught by experienced professors from the universities, presenting an exciting glimpse into the future of technology.

Morning seminars and afternoon group discussions allowed Jianxing honor students, holding their college student cards, to freely explore the school's libraries, seminar rooms, laboratories, and fitness facilities as international students. Collaborating with over 300 students from around the world in the summer school, they delved into knowledge, strengthening their expertise and expanding scientific literacy while enhancing their abilities in independent research and experimental investigations. Beyond daily academic courses, Jianxing honor students explored the campuses of Oxford and Cambridge, engaging in cultural exchange activities and interacting with peers from around the world. This not only improved their English communication skills and provided a relaxed and enjoyable experience but also allowed them to experience the cultures of peers from different countries, deepening their awareness as global citizens.

The summer school achieved resounding success, with both Oxford and Cambridge University commending the exceptional dedication and performance of Jianxing honor students. Not only did they showcase profound academic knowledge during the summer school, but they also achieved remarkable success in international communication and teamwork, enriching their academic and interpersonal skills. In the summer school survey, Jianxing students expressed a satisfaction rate of 97.82% for this overseas offline program.

Jianxing is the college that has signed a cooperation agreement with two world-class universities. During the summer school, Yuan Dan, the Executive Dean of Jianxing Honor College, personally led the Cambridge summer school team. They engaged in cordial and in-depth discussions with Nick Godfrey, the International Exchange Project Manager at Girton College, Cambridge University, and Christopher Adamson, the International Project Manager at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford University, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for strategic cooperation. During the meeting, they explored future collaboration matters, discussing opportunities to enhance academic exchange and deepen cooperative research in various fields, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration. Through in-depth cooperation with Oxford, Cambridge, and other world-class institutions, Jianxing Honor College has built a bridge for honor students to enter the international academic arena, contributing actively to the cultivation of innovative talents with an international perspective.
