On May 23, the opening ceremony of first GLOBAL JIANXING International Cultural Exchange Week was held in the Lecture Hall of Zhiyuan Building, Pingfeng Campus. It is jointly sponsored by the International Office and the Jianxing Honors College of Zhejiang University of Technology. Yu Xiaofen, vice president of the school, attended the opening ceremony. Six Representatives of top overseas universities including the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, sent their congratulations to the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, Yu Xiaofen delivered a warm speech, affirming the international talent cultivation strategy of Jianxing Honors College and expressing her gratitude to foreign partner schools for their participation. At last, she encouraged students to actively join in overseas study exchange programs.
The representatives of International Office, the Academic Affairs Office, the School of Humanities, the School of Computer Science, all staffs of Jianxing Honors College, all head teacher of the experimental classes and part of honorary students attended the opening ceremony. There are two branch venues on Zhaohui campus and Moganshan campus, which were conducted in synchronized online and offline ways, with a total of more than 400 students.
After the opening ceremony, professor Adrian Hamers, research group leader of the Nobel Prize in Physics, delivered a speech “Compact Objects and Gravitational Waves” and Kai-kit Wong, professor of University College London, gave lectures on Navigating Research Life in the University.
It is reported that GLOBAL JIANXING lasts for 6 days, with 6 online lectures and 3 offline English salons. The content of the lectures includes expert lectures, special sessions in top overseas schools, study abroad skills sharing, the 2nd Voice of JIANXING Academic English Final Competition and other activities. International cultural exchange week aims to expand the global vision and internationalization pattern of college students and enhance the internationalization ability and level of the college.
